Spring is in the air – and so are those pesky insects!! Which not only means that the temperatures are starting to rise and the flowers starting to bloom but its prime time for the flies, spiders, mosquitoes and ants to start making their way out of hiding and back into civilization.
Even though those bugs have been in hiding the team here at Green Pesty have not been. We have been recruiting new technicians to help service more areas more regularly. Two of our new additions are the wonderful Gabrielle in the Pyramid Hill area and Mathew in the Griffith area.
We said goodbye to Tony one of our superstar technician’s after 15 years of keeping his valued customers pest free. We also hosted our annual Green Pesty conference where we worked on developing the skills and treatments we offer with our technicians, and celebrated them at the awards night while sneaking in a little quality bonding time by racing around the go kart track (we had to have a little play mixed in with work).
In this issue you will see some of our helpful tips and tricks to help keep your home pest free and to get the best results from your treatment.
Because here at Green Pesty we are here to make sure that the only things buzzing in your garden this Spring are bees!
The Green Pesty family want to welcome Gabby to the team. Gabby is a born and bread local to the Pyramid Hill area so she has all the inside knowledge into the pest activity in the area. Gabby cannot wait to start this season off keeping all our valued customers pest free.
We have been lost without our superstar Tony covering the Griffith area but never fear Mathew is here. Mathew is a Griffith local. He lives here with his wonderful partner Sigrid and 2 beautiful step daughters Chichi and Victoria. Mathew is a keen archer so his aim on those pesky bugs should be impeccable!!
We said farewell to Tony Battenally who has finally decided to hang up the spray pack after 15 years. Tony will be greatly missed not only by the team but by all the valued customers who loved a yarn with Tony.
The best ways to prepare your home for the most successful results in your treatment are doing things like.
1.Pressure washing the exterior of your home, with all the wind that comes with the winter season also comes dustand dirt build up on the exterior of the home. By cleaning the exterior home you are giving your technician a clear surface to spray, if we are spraying on a home that has a dust build up It is the dust that will be absorbing the product then flaking off once the dust starts to fall off the home.
2.Decluttering – Pests love cluttered and undisturbed spaces as its prime breeding ground. By removing as muchclutter as possible not only do you feel lighter within your home your taking limiting the spaces insects love to hide.
3.Landscaping – you may think this is one that won’t make a difference to your home but making sure that shrubs, trees and any plants around the home are trimmed and not obstructing the home helps the technicians do a more thorough spray with better access to surfaces. Overgrown plants and stagnant water attract mosquitoes and rodents.
Home maintenance, we recommend while doing your spring clean to really look at the structure of your home.Windows and doorframes are the usual suspects where cracks can start to appear by re sealing these entry points you can help limit insects finding a way in.
This year we were hosted by Pod, in his home town of Bendigo for our annual conference. Our awards night is the one special night a year our technicians get to take off their blue overalls and backpacks and get all dolled up to be honoured for the terrific work they do.
Outstanding Technician went to the fabulous Craig Lihou
Rising Technician was taken out by Pod Brereton
Most Referrals went to the much loved Andrew Kemp
And the 500 Club which marks over 500 jobs completed by each technician last season had Josh Fita, Craig Lihou, Dave Florance and Andrew Kemp all take out the honour
We also had quite a few technicians celebrating milestones for the years they have been apart of our Green Pesty team.
Geoff Cole celebrated 15 years of being a technician and he is still going strong keeping the Echuca area under control.
And last but not least we had 5 technicians reach their 5 year milestone. Dean Sheridan, Dave Florance, Daryll Morris, Randall Scott & Kerry Keatley.
Mosquitoes require still, stagnant water to lay their eggs on and for their larvae to develop into adults.

Remove all discarded cans, bottles, spare tyres, empty plant pots that may be able to collect water
Maintaining drains and gutters, ensure that all drains and gutters are clear of debris so the water can drain freely
Weekly cleaning of pet bowls, bird baths and outdoor vases is a must
Pools need to be kept chlorinated and well maintained, those annoying leaves floating on the top of your pool are like little islands for those pesky mosquitoes.
